No matter who you are don’t judge a book by its cover...

Hahaha Amarillo is the place to be for missionary work it is beautiful but for visiting I don’t want anyone to walk through my area I would be afraid for you haha.

It is a sweet city and this is exactly how I pictured a mission should be it is cool going out and talking to all the people it is cool. So I live five miles out of my area though and we are on bikes so it is kinda hard to get to and fro so I eat a big breakfast we leave at ten go and work and get home at nine and I eat din din. That means dinner. haha ya it is madness my new companion is Elder Chuck he is 27 he is a nice guy he has been out on his mission 21 months and we go to work...

So Amarillo is a lot different than San Angelo holy crap everyone its like being in a whole new world I love it. My first day in my area 15 people yelled at us from their cars and 13 of those yells were positive so life is looking up. haha the work is really good here too. Like really good we are teaching a ton of people right now. Sure a couple of them are homeless and sure a couple are drug dealers but hey that’s why we are here. We are all our brothers and sisters. We have been teaching a lot of Spanish people which makes me livid that I don’t know Spanish but there is a cool story a few lines down so keep reading. Well I’m getting pretty ripped from riding my bike even more then I did in San Angelo so for all of you who were curious ;) haha jk so this week we were walking down this street and these two Spanish guys walk up to us and are like come come come so we followed them into their house and no one spoke English there but this guy hurt his leg so he needed a blessing and so I said a prayer that I would be able to understand what they were saying. Then out of nowhere I started being able to understand, things were coming back to me from Ms Harts Spanish class in the 7th grade and we were able to communicate and we blessed him and their home so that was a pretty cool moment when the lord used my knowledge man I love the lord haha.

We also are teaching a humble man named Thomas who has spina bifida and has been in wheel chair his entire life , he is being baptized on Sunday and he is the most awesome humble sweet man in the entire world I wish y'all could meet him.

Sorry this letter is short but I wanted to say. No matter who you are don’t judge a book by its cover. We were teaching this homeless man who I don’t know his name but I call him red hooded sweatshirt and he has no one in the entire world and we were afraid when he came up to us... and idk why I was afraid… I was judging him and that was wrong he is now my best friend in all of Amarillo hands down and we see him everywhere and now since we’ve been meeting with him miracles have been happening I will tell you next week.

I have to go I love you all be safe,

Life is good. I’m happy and I hope you all feel happy...

Hello my name is Keegan Christensen and I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

I am about to embark on another thirteen hour bus ride to the beautiful city of Amarillo, TX. With my new companion Elder Chuck. I bet his first name is Norris. I’ve only heard "things" about him, so I am excited haha. I am going to miss San Angelo though. It has really started to grow on me and I feel like a ten year old on the mission leaving his home. This week was interesting without Elder Ashton. I had to step up my game even more and it was worth it. Being two people in training and doing it alone is actually a good idea, we had some good times.

So we took a hike to try to find this giant like-hundred-foot cross this morning, but we couldn't find it, instead we saw like fifty snakes so we screamed like little girls and now we are besties haha.

The Primary Program was this week and it was all I hoped for and more. We had five investigators there and I was like, okay Michelle (that's who I was sitting next to) there is always that one kid that screams every song and he will be your favorite. Sure enough little Eric came through for me in the clutch haha. They loved it and the spirit was totally there and the entire crowd was friends by the end of it and I think that every one of my investigators will be okay when I go.

Elder Morgan is staying here in San Angelo and getting two new comps. One that has been out for a year and Elder Kennedy my MTC comp. It’s pretty cool. Haha they will love it.

So this week there was a tornado warning and it was awesome because it was like a blue sky then all the sudden these purple clouds roll in, then it starts hailing and it’s like 70 degrees outside. It was crazy with a ton of wind. We were out trying to find people, but no one was outside for some reason. It was weird. So we knocked some doors, but no one was home either. I think they may have been in the bath tub. God bless America.

I am excited for snow...

Okay this week was a way spiritual week. I cried. So Michelle and Margret live in our apartment complex and Margret has been like a mom to me on my mission. She is from Scotland and Michelle is her daughter and Michelle isn't a member and she just moved here from Utah and her boyfriend who is a member is going on a mission and she is going to wait for him. And she has had the missionary discussions six different times. But now she saw us and walked up to us and was like, “hey, I want you to give me the lessons”, one day before we even knew who she was. So we were pretty stoked. haha And we have taught her twice and she said she didn't get an answer to her prayer, but she had a dream and it was just her and the Salt Lake Temple. Anyway, I started crying and explained life and bore testimony, then everyone started crying. God is awesome, haha holy crap; He really does answer prayers, like He does. For any question, and I know that I was sent here for her to find me… God needed me here... and that seriously strengthened me as a person that God gave me that gift. God’s ways are higher than our ways, Isaiah 55. Life is good. I’m happy and I hope you all feel happy. Michelle was concerned that she wasn’t worthy of the gift, that she has done too much wrong...... and really I think we all have that thinking. And we should, haha we really don't deserve this gospel, we don't deserve Christ’s atonement, but it was given to us... freely... and it’s ours whether we want it or not. And that really kinda opened my eyes a little bit. Well I love y’all.

I’m fixin’ to go pack my bags and ship out, but I want y’all to know I love you and I am here for you, but so is Christ, He is your best friend haha. I think me and him are bros now. It’s pretty cool.

Stay strong

You are you for a reason

Love

Howdy y’all this week in San Angelo has been awesome and super super sad...

Okay so here we are on a Tuesday because the library is closed on Monday....I know many of your hearts cried when my email wasn't sent yesterday, but no need to fear it’s here.. haha jk.

Howdy y’all this week in San Angelo has been awesome and super super sad haha.

So my companion Elder Morgan who was going to the hospital to get his blood tested, turned out to have a thyroid problem just like me, so we truly are twin brothers.....for my other companion things weren't so lucky.......Elder Ashton my trainer was sent home this morning because he needs to get hip surgery....I cried, I will admit it. It’s weird he was the greatest trainer in the world and I miss him, haha. So me and Elder Morgan are now together and we are both in training, so this apparently has never happened before and we are pioneers. It’s sweet.

Our investigators are doing awesome. Haha. David came to Sacrament!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the gentleman who had not left his home in 15 years). He loved it so much he cried and so did we. We warmly embraced each other with a 3 minute hug......yep...... haha. Wendy is awesome, we have been and still are teaching all of her friends and we set a baptismal day with Cassandra. Cassandra is living with Wendy. She is a 61 year old alcoholic that got so drunk, she got alcohol poisoning and now she wants to change her life around and it is so cool. She’s 4'9" and like a little bowling ball. She’s awesome haha and we are teaching like 9 others who I will report on in other weeks so y’all won’t get bored of this stuff.

I ate a three pound burger this week..... it was called the beast burger.......I have gained a fair amount of weight since I’ve been here..... God bless America...

Oh yah, and I went on this exchange with the Spanish elders. We laughed, we cried and we taught a ton of people in Spanish.... I don't know Spanish, but it was awesome anyway. I would bare my testimony in English and Elder Lemmon would translate. It’s amazing how the spirit works.

My message for this week is about how we shouldn't have to hit rock bottom.

So often it takes people till they are in the lowest of their lows to turn to our Father in Heaven... this is crazy, why don't we recognize Him now, before we hit our lowest points? I know that life is hard, but I also know that through our Father in Heaven and through Jesus Christ’s Atonement anything is possible and anyone can be saved....anyone.

Sorry today has been a hard day, will everyone please pray for my companion Elder Landon Homer Ashton and maybe give him a hand of comfort when he gets home tomorrow. He lives in West Jordan. Food for thought.

And also I am fixin to get transferred this week, so don't send any letters until I get my new address. I love y’all. Elder Christensen

We knelt down in the middle of the road and prayed that someone would let us into their house...

So crap this is going to be a short email because I have to go back to the doctor.....................

haha its not for me it my companion, he is like getting a blood transfusion or something. It’s pretty cool.

Short story for the week:

We were having a hard time... no one has let us into their house on the first knock on my mission so far. So we prayed. We knelt down in the middle of the road and prayed that someone would let us into their house. So we knocked on the next door.

DEEDEE answered it and let us in. She is a plumber who is awesome and her husband is interested in the gospel too.

Before she let us in though, we had to clear a few things up about Mormons. Really people think we are disgusting people and I would too if I had the knowledge they did about us. She thought we were Satan worshippers who married multiple 12 and 14 year old girls. I finally understand why people really are afraid of us. I would be too. I would want to run away. But really we are not any of that, we are Christians. Who are doing our best to follow Jesus Christ and return to our father, God.

So the message today is to pray. It works and it is easy.

Here are a couple pictures of my week because I don't have enough time to explain it.
